For today's blogging challenge, I have to share nicknames that I have.
Len-Len is my nickname at home and in our neighborhood when I was a kid. Taken from the last syllable of my real name Jocelyn, then changing the "y" to an "e" and lastly, mention it twice. Other people pronounced it as Lyn-Lyn. Sometimes other people add a "g" after the "n" so it becomes Leng-Leng. But I have observe that Len-Len is the most common nickname for names ending in "lyn" like Loralyn who is my friend.
Now that I am old, my family and neighbors just call me Len. Maybe because they want to save the energy that they will consume if they will mention the second Len. Or maybe because Len-Len does not fit to an adult person. Maybe repeated name such as Len-Len is more of a kid's name.
During high school, I have two classmates who have the same name as mine so there are three Jocelyns in the class. Because of that, the three of us were called in our last names instead. So I was called Verano initially. But since Verano sounds like a man's name, my classmates tweaked it to sound feminine and so they called me Veraine.
For my colleagues at work, I tell them to just call me Jo. One of my friends at work who is very creative made fun of me and called me Jojogummy until all my colleagues in that department known me with that name. My nickname became longer than my real name. I get used to it eventually.
So those are my nicknames. Thank you for your time and God bless you.
